ATMAE Names 2018 Conference Chair

Last fall, the ATMAE Board of Directors met to develop a new strategic plan. Part of the plan included the creation of a Conference Committee. The idea was to allow more member input in the Conference, allowing management to focus on logistics. This year’s Conference will be Nov 7-9, Kansas City, MO at the Kansas Marriott Downtown.

This year’s 2018 ATMAE Annual Conference Chair is Dr. Cynthia Horta-Martinez. Dr. Horta is a professor of graduate programs at the School of Technology, University of Central Missouri and has a demonstrated history of working in higher education and industry. Dr. Horta also serves as President of the ATMAE Distance Learning Division.

Additionally, Dr. Cheryl Alexander, RN, CCRN, MSN/MHA, DNP, CEO of the Institute for Information Technology Solutions & Smart Healthcare, will be assisting as a liaison between the Divisions. Dr. Alexander currently serves as President of the ATMAE Management Division.

All Divisions this year have been encouraged to create a Plan of Work and within that plan, many outline plans for the Conference, such as tours, workshops, awards, etc. They have till May 11 to submit those plans to ATMAE. Additionally, this year, the Board authorized each Division to have a budget of $2,000 to help accomplish their plans.

For questions related to the Divisions, please contact Dr. Alexander, tech.health.sol@gmail.com. If you have questions related to the Conference Committee, please contact Dr. Horta, chorta@ucmo.edu. For general questions regarding the Conference, feel free to reach out to your ATMAE staff, admin@atmae.org.

Thank you so much and we look forward to seeing you in Kansas City!!

Jim Thompson, IOM, CAE
Executive Director, ATMAE
